Description

The TTL to RS485 Converter Module is a compact serial communication module designed for bidirectional conversion between TTL UART signals and RS485 differential signals. It allows microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi UART interfaces and other embedded systems to communicate with RS485 devices over longer distances and in electrically noisy environments. The module features automatic data direction / flow control, eliminating the need for a separate GPIO pin to manually switch between transmit and receive modes. The onboard circuitry automatically detects UART transmission and controls the RS485 transceiver direction, simplifying both wiring and programming. RS485 differential communication offers improved noise immunity and is widely used in industrial automation, Modbus networks, sensors, PLC communication, energy meters and long-distance serial communication. This module is particularly useful when connecting TTL UART devices to equipment using RS485 A/B communication lines.

Connection Overview
On the TTL/UART side, connect the module to the microcontroller's TX, RX, VCC and GND as indicated on the board. On the RS485 side, connect the A and B terminals to the corresponding A/B lines of the RS485 device.
Because the module uses automatic direction control, your microcontroller normally communicates using its standard UART functions without needing an additional pin to switch the transceiver between transmitting and receiving.
